I’ve Been Thinking

Give Thanks

Although we should always think about giving thanks, it certainly comes to mind more over Thanksgiving week. I would like to thank the LMA team, clients, family, and friends for not only a wonderful year, but also for propping me up when I need it, asking the hard questions, providing support, and much more. It takes a village!

Austin, It’s Skyline & Manufacturing Hub

I recently went to Austin, TX to speak at the MPO (Medical Product Outsourcing) Summit on reshoring and nearshoring in the medical device industry. While deep diving into the healthcare products/ medtech industry, I took a few days to see the sites of Austin. See below for a few of my favorites including an incredible skyline.

Why Manufacturing Drives Resiliency

The world has all sorts of complications and challenges going on simultaneously: The Russia-Ukraine war is heating up, driving a severe energy shortage in Europe as Russia turned off the gas pipeline. The China-Taiwan tensions continue to gain steam with advanced computer chips at the crux of the conflict. The baby formula challenges carry on with flights [...]

What’s in the LMA Blog? Categorizing Blog Articles – LMA Consulting

In thinking about our LMA blog, I finally found time to revamp the categories so that it is easier for folks to find articles on topics of interest. It isn't really something I could outsource since there were too many considerations and scenarios to explain. I got on a [...]

Costa Rica’s Nearshoring Opportunities in Biotech Manufacturing & Its Biodiversity

I went to Costa Rica with my brother and nephew, and so I've been thinking about the amazing Costa Rican biodiversity, beaches, birds and biotech manufacturing.

Manufacturers are Remaining Positive Amidst Chaos

According to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), 82% of manufacturers remain at least somewhat positive about their company's outlook. This statistic is especially interesting since 59% thought continued inflation would make a recession more likely in the next 12 months. Perhaps manufacturing should be even more positive as [...]

The Importance of Customer Service

We are in a time period that will prove more important than almost any other because more companies will surge past the competition during these turbulent times, propelling them forward for years to come. Executives will have a choice - push the pedal to the floor and achieve success or be tentative and pull on the parking brake and slowly retreat and decline.

Supply Chain Disruptions Have Become an Excuse

The issue is if we are running hand to mouth, any disruption can create chaos. Clearly, the pandemic created chaos upfront, but it has now become an excuse. It is quite clear that the global supply chain is out of alignment and will not magically realign itself. There are [...]

Lost Revenue Due to Lack of Resources: How to Attract People to Your Company

According to Interos, almost 90% of companies experienced a negative impact to revenue due to supply chain disruption. That is a BIG number! From our point-of-view, every client is complaining about the lack of critical resources required to support the business and has experienced negative impacts to revenue (even if only in terms of a delay to revenue recognition).
