Lisa Anderson participated on a panel discussion at the New England Supply Chain Conference and Exposition on managing capacity in complex and volatile environments with Shari Ruelas, General Manager of Commercial Products at Chevron; Alejandro Bustamante, Senior Advisor to the CEO & Board of Directors of Poly/HP; and Dan Raatjes, SVP & COO of King’s Hawaiian Holding Co.
Capacity planning has become increasingly important as manufacturers and supply chain organizations navigate changing demand, labor constraints, supply disruptions, and shifting customer requirements. Companies need to evaluate whether they have the appropriate people, equipment, supplier, production, and logistics capacity to support customer needs while maintaining service and profitability.
The panel explored how business leaders can manage capacity in complex environments, balance demand with available resources, and make informed decisions as conditions change. Effective capacity planning requires looking across the end-to-end supply chain rather than focusing solely on production capacity. Aligning capacity with demand and business priorities can improve predictability, customer service, operational performance, and the ability to scale.
